About Me

Portrait of Ali Qudsi
Fig. 01 — Ali Qudsi

I grew up between countries and languages — fluent in English, Arabic, and Farsi, and conversational in spoken Hindi — and finished high school at GEMS American Academy, playing varsity soccer alongside a full course load.

Before engineering, I spent two years in my family's confectionery in Doha. That job had two halves: measuring to tight tolerances on the production side, and negotiating face-to-face with customers on the sales side. Both turned out to be useful training. Then two years studying economics at Stony Brook, which is where the interest in how things get funded and justified came from.

I'm now studying civil engineering at Brookdale, heading toward a B.S. in civil engineering with a structural concentration. The through-line across everything here is that I like problems where the structure and the business case both have to hold up.

Experience

2022 — 2023

Confectioner & Sales Negotiator

Qudsi Sweets · Doha, Qatar

  • Measured and combined ingredients to tight tolerances for consistent, high-quality confections — the same discipline engineering specifications demand.
  • Engaged customers directly through negotiation and cultural awareness, building lasting relationships and improving visibility for specialty sweets and nuts.
  • Identified inefficiencies in the preparation workflow and proposed resequenced tasks, reducing production time during peak hours.
  • Coordinated timelines and task priorities with the team through high-volume production periods.
  • Trained new employees on processes and equipment, translating technical procedure into clear step-by-step instruction.
  • Maintained strict adherence to food safety and sanitation protocols.

Multiview Part Drawing — Part 5.1A

Engineering Graphics · Autodesk Inventor

A dimensioned production drawing of a four-hole mounting plate with a chamfered corner, modeled and detailed in Inventor. The sheet carries an isometric pictorial alongside front, top, and side orthographic projections, dimensioned at 1:1 on an A-size sheet with a completed title block.

Legacy Loaves — Community Bakery Café

Business plan · Toms River, NJ

A complete venture plan for a community-focused bakery café built around an underserved group: local seniors. Structured as a three-founder LLC with defined ownership, and developed end to end — problem statement, market assessment, product line, funding structure, and five-year outlook.

The concept centers on a bakery designed for people usually designed around: low-sugar and soft-texture options, a paid Senior Community Ambassador program, and workshops that make the café a place to belong rather than just buy bread.

3D Truss Bridge Design

Engineering Graphics · Autodesk Fusion 360

  • Modeled a truss bridge in Fusion 360, applying constraints and material properties to simulate real-world structural behavior.
  • Iterated on design geometry with a team of three based on stress-analysis feedback, strengthening the final structure by 15% under load testing.

Structural Load Analysis

Engineering Statics

  • Calculated internal forces, shear diagrams, and bending moments for a simply supported beam under varied loading using equilibrium equations.
  • Presented the analysis to a class of 25, communicating complex force results through visual aids and free-body diagrams.
